Answer:

Explanation:

Well... this is a typical question about system of equation ...

You have to find two equations to build the system and then, choose the best method for you.

First of all, let’s call deluxe taco as x and veg taco as y.

Kenya orders 50 tacos:

X+y=50 (this is our 1st eq.)

The second one will be just like that:

“X cost 2.95 and y cost 2.25. The total price before the tax is 137”

2.95 . X + 2.25 . Y = 137

Building the system:

X+y=50

2.95x + 2.25y = 137

Well... for this system, I prefer to choose the substituition method

On the first equation, I rewrite just like that X=50-y

On the second equation:

2.95 (50-y) + 2.25y = 137

147.5 - 2.95y + 2.25y = 137

-0.7y = -10.5

Y = 15

X+y=50

X+15=50

X=35

Answer:Kenya bought 35 deluxe taco and 15 vegetarian taco

Explanation:

Let x represent the number of deluxe taco that Kenya bought.

Let y represent the number of vegetarian taco that Kenya bought.

Kenya orders a total of 50 tacos. This means that

x + y = 50

The deluxe taco cost 2.95. The vegetarian taco cost 2.25. The total price before tax is 137. This means that

2.95x + 2.25y = 137 - - - - - - - - - - - 1

Substituting x = 50 - y into equation 1, it becomes

2.95(50 - y) + 2.25y = 137

147.5 - 2.95y + 2.25y = 137

- 2.95y + 2.25y = 137 - 147.5

- 0.7y = - 10.5

y = -10.5/-0.7

y = 15

Substituting y = 15 into x = 50 - y, it becomes

x = 50 - 15

x = 35
