Answer:

Explanation:

Consider your sister as x and you as y.

If your sister and you have together 60 dollars, you write it just like that:

X+y = 60 (This is the 1st equation)

The second equation is:

You have 50% more than your sister. So, we can write in a algebraic way:

Y = 1.5x

(Why did I write 1.5x? Because you have all money that your sister have plus 50% of this amount!)

Now, you can build a system of equation

x+y=60

Y=1.5x

I’m choosing the substitution method:

X + 1.5x = 60

2.5x = 60

X = 24

Finally, your sister should have $24

Answer:

your sister would have $24

Explanation:

1. let x= sister's amount of money

x+1.5x=60

it's 1.5 because your sister's amount of money plus 50% of that would be 1.5 in decimal form

2. solve for x

2.5x=60

x=24
