Please help me guys!!

Imagine that you are a doctor in a maternity ward. During your last shift, 20 babies were born. 10 had blue eyes, and 10 had brown eyes. Remember genotypes are the two alleles given for each trait, written with a letter. For this activity B =brown eyes b= blue eyes. Phenotypes are the physical appearance of the trait.

Given the phenotypes, what are the possible genotypes for these babies? Please explain how you came up with your answer.

Answer:

The correct answer would be - BB or Bb, and bb for brown and blue eyes babies respectively.

Step-by-step explanation:

Dominant alleles are the alleles that mask the effect or the other allele if present in the heterozygous condition in a particular case, on the basis of this, the genotype of a person could be pure-bred or wild type and heterozygous.

Therefore, blue eyes babies are recessive as represented by b allele so it is obvious that blue eyes babies must have bb allele combination.

Brown eyes babies could be dominant pure-bred or heterozygous so, Possible genotypes of the brown-eyed babies (as the gene for brown eyes is dominant) = BB or Bb.
