Albert pushes a 6 kg box across a level floor. He pushes with a force of 43 N and observes that the box accelerates in the direction of his push at a rate of 3 m / s 2 . What must be the net force acting on the box?

To solve this problem we will use Newton's second Law which describes the Force applied to a body as a function of mass and acceleration.

For this purpose we have to


F = ma

Where,

m = mass

a = acceleration

The net force would then be given by the mass of
6kg and the acceleration of
3 m / s ^ 2, then,


F = 6*3


F = 18N

The net force acting on the box is 18N
