Atherosclerosis results from damage to the endothelial layer of blood vessel.

Answer: Option D

Step-by-step explanation:

Atherosclerosis is a term used when the blood vessels are hardened due to fat being deposited in the endothelial layers of the blood vessels. The inner endothelial layer is normally very smooth. When the endothelial layer is injured or tampered the white blood cells and T cells are activated.

The WBC’s and T cells start moving from the bloodstream to the artery through artery lining. Here they are converted to foam cells which are store houses of fat and cholesterol. This causes deposit in the layer and causes rupture which results in Atherosclerosis. This causes blockage in the heart resulting in heart attack.
