Answer: 30.57

Explanation:

Start out by finding the area of the circle. A=πr²

So we need to try to find the radius. The radius is half of the diameter. The box is shown to have a length of 8 cm and a height of 6 cm. The radius of the circle is 5. So the area of the entire circle is Area= 3.14 times 5² to the second power.

Which means the area of the entire circle = 78.54

Now we take the area of the un-shaded box and subtract that from the area of the circle. To find the area of the box, we use A=wl Or, area equals width times length. The with of the box is 6, and the length is 8. Making the area of the box 48.

Now we subtract 48 from 78.54. Which equals 30.4. This is all rounded, un-rounded it equals 30.57.

you need to find the radius of the circle, and then subtract the area of the rectangle from the area of the circle to find the shaded area.
To find the radius, make a right angled triangle from the center to the corner of the rectangle so the hypotenuse (longest side) is the radius. Use pythagorean’s theorem to find the length of the radius so r^2=3^2+4^2 so r=5. area of the circle is pi(5^2) and the are of the rectangle is 6x8 so pi(5^2) - (6x8) = 30.57
