Answer:

the cost paid by burton will be = 31.08 dollars

Explanation:

when burton paid 36.80 for 11 and half gallons last week the cost per gallon =
(total cost)/(total gallon)

(36.80)/(11.5)= 3.2 dollars

it is given that cost of per gallon increased by 5 percentage

5 percent of 3.2 dollar =
(5)/(100)×3.2 = .16 dollars

therefore the cost per gallon this week will be = 3.2 + 5 percent of 3.2 dollars

= 3.36 dollars

it is given that burton buys 9.25 gallons this week therefore his total cost will be = 9.25×cos per gallon this week

= 9.25×3.36

=31.08 dollars
