total laps swam by Dan in n number of weeks will be = n×(total laps swan by dan in each week)

it is given that dan swims 160 laps each week

therefore total laps swam by him after 15 weeks will be = 15×160

= 2400 laps

if he swims 160 laps for an extra week he would have swam = 2400 + 160

= 2560 laps

which is more than his objective of 2500 laps

therefore dan would have swam an extra of 60 laps if he swims 160 laps each week for 16 weeks

therefore he would complete his quota of 2500 laps.
