Answer:

Medium: 4 and Large: 6

Explanation:

Factor pairs that are equivalent to 10:

1,9

2,8

3,7

4,6

5,5

and so on. So you could do 2.4*9 and 1.8*1. If that doesn't work, switch it around. This coud probably take 1/2 of a hour or more. But it'll be worth it if it's a grade. :3

In the end, I'm pretty sure you should be able to get the answer:

Medium cups: 4

Large cups: 6

1.8 multiplied by 4 would get you 7.2 and 2.4 multiplied by 6 would get you 14.4. If you add them all up, you would get a 21.6! If you didn't, check your math again.

Answer:the number of medium packs is 4

the number of large packs is 6

Explanation:

Let x represent the number of medium packs that she bought.

Let y represent the number of large packs that she bought.

Ivy has 10 packs of cup for her holiday party. This means that

x + y = 10

a pack of medium cups costs 1.80 and a pack of large cups costs 2.40 she paid a total of 21.60. This means that

1.8x + 2.4y = 21.60 - - - - - - - - 1

Substituting x = 10 - y into equation 1, it becomes

1.8(10 - y) + 2.4y = 21.60

18 - 1.8y + 2.4y = 21.6

- 1.8y + 2.4y = 21.6 - 18

0.6y = 3.6

y = 3.6/0.6 = 6

Substituting y = 0.6 into x = 10 - y, it becomes

x = 10 - 6 = 4
