In April, 1,435,600 people were unemployed in Canada. In may, there was a 0.16% decrease in the number of people unemployed. How many people were unemployed in may, rounded to the nearest hundred people? ​

Answer: 14333

Explanation:

Population if unemployed in April

= 1,435,600

In May, it reduced by = 0.16%

To find the number of unemployed,

16/10000 x 1435600

16 x 1535600/10000

= 2296.96

= 2300

Now the number of unemployed in May

= 1435600 - 2300

= 1433300, to the nearest hundredth

= 14333
