Ramil and Carly decided to make more baked goods for the bake sale. They used one fourth less flour to make bread than cookies. She used one third lb more flour to make cookies than to make brownies. If she used one half of flour to make the bread, how much more flour did she use to make the brownies?

Answer:

The answer is: amount of flour used for bread and brownies is same

Explanation:

Step 1:

Assume;

Flour used for cookies = x

Flour used for bread = z

Flour used for brownies = y

Flour used for cookies = a

Step 2:

Now, for bread as mentioned flour used for bread is one fourth less than flour used in cookies therefore;

z = x - (1/4)x

z = x-0.25x

z = 0.75x

Step 3:

Now, for cookies as mentioned flour used for cookies is one third more than flour used in brownies therefore;

x = (1/3)y + y

x = 0.33y + y

x = 1.33y

Step 5:

Value of z from step 2:

z = 0.75x

now put value of x from step 3 in above equation;

z= 0.75 (1.33y)

z = (1) y

hence proved;

z = y
