Let x be the number of rabbits in last year.

Then , According to the question , we have

500% of x = 700


\Rightarrow\ (500)/(100)* x=700 [To convert percent into fractions , we divide it by 100]


\\\\\Rightarrow\ 5* x=700\\\\\Rightarrow\ x=(700)/(5)=140

Hence, there were 140 rabbits last year.
