There are three different possible structures (known as isomers) of a dibromoethene molecule, C 2 H 2 Br 2 C2H2Br2 . One of them has no net dipole moment, but the other two do. Draw Lewis structures for each of these structures. Include H H atoms.

Answer:

The possible isomers of C2H2Br2 are Cis- 1,2-dibromoethene, Trans-1,2-dibromoethene and 1,1- dibromethene

Step-by-step explanation:

Isomerism is the phenomenon whereby organic molecules have the same molecular formular but different structure formular or spatial arrangement.

  • When it has different structure formular, then it is referred to as Structural isomerism
  • When it has different spatial arrangement, then it is referred to as Stereoisomerism

Dibromoethene has 2 Stereoisomer (Cis- 1,2-dibromoethene andTrans-1,2-dibromoethene ) and 1 structural isomer (1,1- dibromethene)

The lewis structures are structures showing the outer electron used in bonding.

(Please kindly find the attached document containing the lewis structure)
