John Adams was the only one of our first five presidents to serve only one term. Give specific reasons for his lack of popularity, giving examples of how his actions were opposed by both the Republican Party and by factions within his own Federalist party?

Reasons for the lack of John Adams popularity:

John Adams served as the Vice President of the first President George Washington, and then led on to serve as the second President of The United States. His lack of popularity rose from his inability to calm the conflicts that arose due to his presidency between the Federalists and the Republicans. The power balance between the federal governments and the states’ governments.

These conflicts usually revolved around a very hot topic at the time, which was the balance of the power that was to be shared between the two levels of governments in the country, the Federal Government and the States’ Government. The conflicts were further lighted with the undeclared wars with France and the Alien and Sedition acts, to pipe down the dissidents.
