Answer:

She should use:

1 : 6 as the proportion of cups of flour to number of cupcakes

6.6 cups of flour to bake 40 cupcakes

Explanation:

2 cups of flour = 12 cupcake

Proportion of cups of flour to number cupcake is

= 2 : 12 which is equivalent to 1 : 6 in it simplest form

Proportion of cups of flour to number cupcake = 1 : 6

Therefore

Number of cupcakes : cups of flour

= 6 : 1

To bake forty cupcakes

let y represent cups of flour.

6 : 1 = 40 : y

6/1 = 40/y

6y = 40

y = 40/6

y = 6.6 cups of flours

Therefore she should use Proportion of number cupcake to cups of flour = 1 : 6
