Take a moment to think about how you generally attribute the behavior of others. Describe one instance when you attributed someone else’s behavior to his or her disposition (a personal/dispositional attribution) and describe one instance when you attributed someone else’s behavior to the situation (a situational attribution). Why do you think your attribution differed in these two instances?

Answer:

There have been many occasions when people have been good to me without expecting anything in return. I think and hope that many of my actions, too, have been out of goodwill and not with any personal motive. This happened some years ago and I believe that this has inspired me to do good deeds whenever an opportunity presents itself. My mother is a single parent and this incident occurred soon after we moved to the town that we live in currently. She had to undergo an emergency operation. We didn’t have any friends or relatives in the town. The neighbors turned out to be great people. They didn’t know us but each one of them pitched in, taking turns to invite me home for meals while my mother was hospitalized, visiting my mother at the hospital, and keeping our spirits up. That week was difficult for us but during that time, we made some incredible friends.

Answer:

In psychology attribution is the daily process that it is carried out in order to delegate the reason for an event or behavior. This reasons can be due to the abilities or aptitudes of someone, or due to the situation or circumstance itself.

Step-by-step explanation:

In psychology attribution is the daily process that it is carried out in order to delegate the reason for an event or behavior. This reasons can be due to the abilities or aptitudes of someone, or due to the situation or circumstance itself.

In the first case an example of a daily personal or dispositional attribution could be when your brother splits the juice in the mother´s new carpet in the dining room. Mother gets really angry because she attributes the fact to the awkwardness of your brother making immediately a dispositional attribution, however it is possible to analyze that she is not considering other facts, it could have been that the new carpet was not even and that could have been the real reason.

In the second case, one common example can be seen when someone arrives late to work and that person attributes the reason to the weather, that is to say to the situation of the moment.
