The equation a line that has a slope of -4 and goes through point (1,-5) in slope intercept form is y = -4x - 1

Solution:

Given that line that has a slope of -4 and goes through point (1,-5)

We have to write the equation of line

The slope intercept form is given as:

y = mx + c ------- eqn 1

where "m" is the slope of line and "c" is the y - intercept

Substitute slope "m" = -4 and (x, y) = (1, -5) in eqn 1

-5 = -4(1) + c

-5 = -4 + c

c = -5 + 4 = -1

c = -1

Substitute c = -1 and m = -4 in eqn 1

y = -4x - 1

Thus the required equation of line is found
