Answer: A) The sum of x and y is a rational number.

Explanation:

A rational number is a number that can be expressed as a fraction , that is , it can be expressed as the quotient or fraction p/q of two integers, a numerator p and a non-zero denominator q. Since q may be equal to 1, every integer is a rational number

since x = -9 and y = -6

x + y = -9 + -6

x + y = -15

-15 can be written as -15/1 , this shows that it is a rational number.

Note : Irrational numbers can not be expressed as fraction ,example is
√(2) ,
\pi and so on

Also , Imaginary number is a complex number
