In one or two paragraphs, explain how the Lewis and Clark Expedition reflected the American desire to expand westward. Explain how the group's journey might have inspired Americans to head west.

Answer:

The main purpose of the expedition was to chart the land and basically discover the west. By doing this it would allow the country to start expanding in that direction. It reflects their desire because they ere willing to go through harsh weather and terrain in order to discover new things. The groups journey allowed the United States government to start embracing Manifest Destiny throughout the entirety of the 19th century. This expedition started to lay down the groundwork for the Oregon trail and really westward expansion of the United States. Unfortunately it did have a large impact on the Native Americas. As the US moved westwards the the Natives were either forced to move as well or collect in small areas allowing the US to spread around them. Just some things to talk about. Good Luck!!!
