Effect of the Stonewall riots in New York City:
The Stonewall riots also referred to as the Stonewall Uprising were a series of violent and spontaneous demonstrations by members of the LGBT (gay) community in New York City. The demonstrations were against the police raid that occurred in the Stonewall Inn in the Greenwich Village in Manhattan.
This was an important event that led to the gay liberation movement in the country. It became the symbol of resistance that inspired homosexual groups for decades. It is also considered the groundwork of the modern fight for LGBT rights in the US.
