The area of rectangular field is 0.14 square kilometer

Solution:

Given that rectangular field is 400 meters long and 350 meter wide

To find: area of the field in square kilometers

The area of rectangle can be found out by multiplying length and width of rectangle

The area of rectangle is given as:

\text { Area of rectangle }=\text { length } * \text { width }

Given that length = 400 meter and width = 350 meter

Substituting the values in above formula we get,

\text { Area of rectangle }=400 * 350=140000

Thus the area of rectangle is 140000 square meters

Converting the area of rectangle to square kilometers:

To convert meter to kilometer, divide the value by 1000

1 \text { meter }=(1)/(1000) \text { kilometer }

Therefore,

\begin{array}{l}{1 \text { meter }^(2)=(1)/(1000 * 1000) \text { kilometer }^(2)} \\\\ {1 m^(2)=(1)/(1000000) k m^(2)}\end{array}

140000 \mathrm{m}^(2)=(140000)/(1000000) \mathrm{km}^(2)=(14)/(100) \mathrm{km}^(2)=0.14 \mathrm{km}^(2)

Thus the area of rectangular field is 0.14 square kilometer
