8x - 3 (4x + 8) = 216 [Write the Equation]

8x - 12x - 24 = 216 [Multiply the 4x and the 8 by -3]

-4x - 24 = 216 [Add the 8 and -12 together]/[Combine like Terms]

-4x = 240 [Get 'x' variable alone]/[Use Inverse Operation to get rid of -24]

x = -60 [Divide both sides by -4 to get value of 'x']
