Answer:

Therefore the Values are

x = 5 and y = 3

Explanation:

Given:

x-y=2 .....................Equation ( 1 )

x+y=8 .....................Equation ( 2 )

To Find :

Difference of Equation

i.e Equation ( 1 ) - Equation ( 2 ) = ?

Solution:

x-y=2 .....................Equation ( 1 )

x+y=8 .....................Equation ( 2 )

Now the Difference of Equation is

Equation ( 1 ) - Equation ( 2 )

Here left hand side of equation ( 2 ) will be subtracted by equation ( 1 )and be equal to right-hand side of equation to will be subtracted by equation (1). So the equation becomes,

(x-y)-(x+y)=2-8\\x-y-x-y=-6\\\textrm{positive x negative x will cancel each other and negative y negative y will be added}\\\\\therefore -2y =-6\\\\\textrm{multiplying both the side by -1}\\\therefore 2y =6\\\\\therefore y =(6)/(2)\\ \\\therefore y =3

Substituting y in equation ( 1 ) we get

x-3=2\\\\x=2+3\\\\\therefore x =5

Therefore the Values are

x = 5 and y = 3
