Several skills have become more important in today's labor market. In general terms, cognitive skills and social skills are considered crucial to succeed in today's economy. Some of these skills are:

• Technical knowledge: ideally in stem fields. The fact is that stem graduates earn on average more than non-stem graduates (with the exception of lawyers). This is because of their technical expertise is highly difficult, complex, and demanded fields such as engineering, science, medicine and math.
• Problem-solving skills: people must be able to use their technical expertise in a variety of situations. They must adapt their knowledge to solve everyday issues that arise within a company.
• Communication skills: even in the most secluded occupations such as computer programming or pathology, communicating effectively with coworkers is of the utmost importance.
