Difference between beliefs of cognitive psychology and behaviorists:
Behavioral Psychology also known as
behaviorism tells us that all behaviors are acquired through interaction
with the environment.
Behaviorists believed that o
bservable behaviors were only aspect ins psychology that are worth considering.
Cognitive psychology is the study of mental functions and its main focus is in procuring, processing and storing of information in mind.
The research in cognition led to change in methodology used in 'psychotherapy' from a strictly
behavioral to a more 'balanced approach'
that combined both
behavioral and cognitive therapy.
