Blood pressure is the force of your blood pushing against the walls of the arteries. Each time your heart beats, it pumps blood into your arteries. Normal blood pressure usually is around 120/80. Hypertension is abnormally high blood pressure. The reasons for hypertension occur can be wide in variety. Hypertension can be caused by age (usually older), diet (high sodium), smoking, stress, genetics, high alcohol consumption, weight, or and outlying medical condition.
