Explanation:

area of a triangle = 1/2 base *height

let the height of the triangle be x

then the width or base = 2x+6

area = 88 in²= 1/2 (x)(2x+6)

88= 2/2(x)(x+3)

88= x² +3x

or x² +3x-88=0

applying mid term break formula

x² +11x-8x -88=0

x(x+11) -8(x+11)=0

(x+11)(x-8)=0 ⇒x= -11,8 (ignoring the negative value as it cannot have negative value)

height= x=8 in

bases= 2*8+6=16+6=22in
