Answer:

A)
44\ cm^2

Explanation:

Given:

Trapezoid is composed of 2 triangles and 1 rectangle.

In order to find area of trapezoid, we will find area of each shape contained in the trapezoid and add them together

Area of triangles:

Base = 2 cm

Height = 4 cm

Area of a triangle =
(1)/(2)* base* height

Plugging in given values.

Area of a triangle =
(1)/(2)* 2* 4=4\ cm^2

Ares of other triangle would be same as they have same height and base.

So, Area of two triangles =
2* 4 =8\ cm^2

Area of rectangle:

Length = 9 cm

Width = 4 cm

Area of rectangle =
length * width

Area of rectangle =
9 * 4=36\ cm^2

So, area of trapezoid =
\textrm{Area of triangles + Area of rectangle}

∴ Area of trapezoid =
8\ cm^2+36\ cm^2=44\ cm^2
