the area of the circular portion of the pool + area of square portion - area common to both circular and square portions

The common portion is 1/4the the area of the circle

The radius of the circular portion = 80-40 = 40m

Area of circular portion = πr² = π (40)³ = 1600π sq m

1/4 this is 160/4 = 400 sq m

Area of square = 80² = 6400 sq m

Total area = 1600π + 6400 - 400π = 1200π + 6400 = 1200 x 3.14 + 6400

= 10,168 sq m
