There are two pints in one quart and four quarts in one gallon. How many pints are there in 2 1/2 gallons of milk?

Answer:

20 pints

Explanation:

1 quart = 2 pints

1 gallon = 4 quarts

2 gallons = 2 gallons*(4 quarts/1 gallon) = 8 quarts

8 quarts = 8 quarts*(2 pints/ 1 quart) = 16 pints

1/2 gallon = 2 quarts = 4 pints

16+4 = 20 pints

Answer: 20 pints.

2 p = 1 q.

10 q = 2 1/2 g.

2 x 10 = 20 p.
