(a^(m) )/(a^(n) )
a^((m-n))

Thus


(f(x))/(g(x))

=
(8x^(6) )/(8x^(5) ) ← cancel the 8 on numerator/ denominator

=
x^((6-5))

= x

So you have to do 8x^6 divided by 8x^5 and to divide powers you just take them away so you get 8x^1 which is 8x. Hope this helps :)
