Total Cost = $1640

Let the Second made be x

Also given one family made $182 more than twice as much of the second family

One family made =
182+2x

Now Total cost is equal to sum of One family and Second family.

Hence framing in equation form we get;


x+182+2x=1640

Now solving the equation we get;


3x+182=1640\\3x=1640-182\\3x= 1458\\x=(1458)/(3)= \$486

Hence,

Second Family made on sale of garage = $486

One Family =
182+2x=182+2*486 = 182 + 972 = \$1154

Hence One Family made on sale of garage = $1154
