In Investigation, latent fingerprints, also known as chance impressions, are invisible patterns made by fingerprints that are left at a crime scene or on objects involved in the crime. These patterns are not visible to the naked eye, and because of that they are analyzed through chemical or physical methods (such as dusting techniques and lasers) by latent fingerprint experts.
