CR #17 Freddie has decided to join a fitness club ! Fitness plan 1: Members pay $4 for every visit and no membership fee. Fitness plan #2: Members pay $2 for every visit and a monthly membership fee of $24. ---- 1. Create functions to reflect both plans. 2. Evaluate both plans if Freddie visits the fitness club 8 times a month. Show and describe your process used. 3. Where is the break even point at which it costs about the same to use either plan?

Answer:

1.

#1 :y=4v

#2: y=2v+24

2.

y= 4(8)= $32

y=2(8)+24=$40

3.

12 visits

Explanation:

1.

Fitness plan#1 : y=4v

Fitness plan #2: y=2v+24

Where "y" is the total cost of each plan and "v" is the number of visits.

2. For this question, we simply replace the variable "v" for the number 8.

y= 4(8)= $32

y=2(8)+24=$40

Fitness plan #1 is cheaper.

3. to find the breakeven point, we assume that the costs are equal (y=y), so:

4v=2v+24

4v-2v=24

2v=24

v=24/2

v=12

They cost the same at 12 visits.
