Solve the system by elimination

Multiply the equation A by 2 both sides


2(-4x + y)=2(-6)


-8x + 2y=-12 -----> equation C

Adds equation C and equation B


-8x + 2y=-12\\18x-2y=14\\-------\\-8x+18x=-12+14\\10x=2\\x=0.2

Find the value of y

substitute the value of x in any of the equations


-4(0.2) + y=-6


y=-6+0.8


y=-5.2

The only solution is (0.2,-5.2)
