Becky needs to make cookies for a school bake sale. The cookies need to be distributed evenly on 2 or more plates. If each plate gets at least 7 cookies, what are all of the possible combinations for 3 1/2 dozen cookies? Write all 3 possible answers. (no broken cookies allowed)

Answer:

We can take 2 plates , 3 plates or 6 plates.

Explanation:

1 dozen = 12 numbers

Total number of cookies = 42

Each plate has to get atleast 7 cookies ,all the plates should have the same number of cookies and also the number of plates must be greater than or equal to 2.

  • If we take 2 plates , there can be 21 cookies in each.
  • If we take 3 plates , there can be 14 cookies in each.
  • If we take 6 plates , there can be 7 cookies in each.

These are the 3 possible cases.

Since there cannot be broken pieces, no other combination is possible.
