Explanation:

this is the formula for the area of a triangle :

half off the baseline times the height (to this baseline).

to solve an equation for one variable involved means to end up with only that variable on one side, and everything else on the other side.

the whole time we keep the equality alive, so any change done on one side has to be done on the other side as well.

A = 1/2 × b × h

to solve for b means we want to get rid of the 1/2 and the h factor.

let's start with the 1/2 factor : we multiply both sides by 2.

2A = b × h

and to get rid of h, we need to divide both sides by h :

2A/h = b

and that's it.

Answer:

2A/h = b

Explanation:

To get b by itself, you have to reverse each operation for the other variables.

h is being multiplied by b here, so to reverse it, you would divide h on both side of the equation. This will give you...

A/h = 1/2b (h is not on the right side anymore because it got canceled out.)

Next you will get rid of the 1/2 by multiplying both sides of the equation with the reciprocal. The reciprocal of 1/2 is 2/1. This will give you..

2A/h = b (1/2 is not on the right side anymore because it got canceled out by 2/1 (1/2 x 2/1 = 1))
