PLEASE HELPP!!

Milo is going to make an apple pie for thanksgiving. He used 5/6 of a pound of granny Smith apples and 3/4 of a pound of golden Delicious apples in his recipe. How many pounds of apples did he use in all?

(I need to show my work with
the equivalent fractions with a common denominator , the expression that models the problem , the final answer as a mixed number or simplified fraction)

Answer:

1 and 7/12. To show your work look at the explanation.

Explanation:

  • the common denominator can be 24 since 6 times 4 is 24.
  • that would make 5/6 = 20/24 and 3/4 = 18/24
  • the expression: 5/6 + 3/4 or 20/24 + 18/24
  • answer as an improper fraction 38/24
  • Answer as a mixed number 1 and 14/24
  • Simplified fraction 1 and 7/12

Hope this helps. :)
