Note that

$(a_2)/(a_1)=(12)/(8)=(3)/(2)\\ \\ \\(a_3)/(a_2)=(18)/(12)=(3)/(2)\\ \\ \\(a_4)/(a_3)=(27)/(18)=(3)/(2)\\ \\...$

So, common ratio is

r=(3)/(2)=1(1)/(2)
