Answer: y = -2x + 8

Explanation:

To find the equation of the line , we will use the formula:

(y_(2)- y_(1))/(x_(2)- x_(1)) =
(y-y_(1))/(x - x_(1))

From the question

x_(1) = 1

x_(2) = 3

y_(1) = 6

y_(2) = 2

substituting into the formula , we have

(2 - 6)/(3 - 1) =
(y - 6)/(x - 1)

(-4)/(2) =
(y - 6)/(x - 1)

cross multiplying , we have

2(y-6) = -4(x-1)

Expanding , we have

2y - 12 = -4x + 4

Adding 12 to both sides , we have

2y = -4x + 16

dividing through by 2 , we have

y = -2x + 8

Therefore , the equation of the line is given as

y = -2x + 8
