Mike and Menna were instructed to graph the function

y=1/2 x +1
. Their graphs are shown

Which student graphed the function correctly?
What mistake did the other student make?

Meena's graph is correct and Mike's mistake is that he plotted a graph with a slope of 2 instead of 1/2

Which student graphed the function correctly?

From the question, we have the following parameters that can be used in our computation:

The two graphs

Also, we have

y = 1/2x + 1

Taking any two points on the graphs and putting it in the equation

We have

Mike = (2, 5) and (4, 9)

5 = 1/2 * 2 + 1

5 = 2 ---- false

9 = 1/2 * 4 + 1

9 = 3 ---- false

Meena = (2, 2) and (4, 3)

2 = 1/2 * 2 + 1

2 = 2 ---- true

3 = 1/2 * 4 + 1

3 = 3 ---- true

Hence, Meena's graph is correct and Mike's mistake is that he plotted a graph with a slope of 2 instead of 1/2
