Option D

The slope of line described by equation y - 7 = 8(x - 14) is 8

Solution:

Given equation is y - 7 = 8(x - 14)

We have to find the slope of line

The slope intercept form is given as:

y = mx + c

Where "m" is the slope of line or we can say "coefficient of x is slope"

Rearranging the given equation to slope intercept form,

y - 7 = 8(x - 14)

y - 7 = 8x - 112

y = 8x - 112 + 7

y = 8x - 105

On comparing the above equation y = 8x - 105 with slope intercept form y = mx + c,

slope = 8(coefficient of "x")

Thus the slope of line is 8

Method 2:

Given equation is y - 7 = 8(x - 14)

The point slope form of equation is:

y - y_1 = m(x - x_1)

On comparing given equation y - 7 = 8(x - 14) with point slope form
y - y_1 = m(x - x_1) we get,

m = 8

Thus the slope of line is 8
