A parenting philosophy is a framework. It provides the “why” for how you parent. This “why” fuels your “how,” which is the parenting strategies you use. Having this framework for your life with your kids is useful, but it's only as beneficial as the actions it inspires.

Philosophy is used a lot in talking back to parents, and the most common way has to be blaming certain behaviors on principles that led up to it. Rather than admitting responsibility, a lot of children use philosophy to either get a point across or to avoid the consequences of what is coming to them.
