AC = 25

Explanation:

Since ∠A = ∠C then the triangle is isosceles, thus BC and AB are congruent, that is

BC = AB, substitute values

7x - 1 = 5x + 5 ( subtract 5x from both sides )

2x - 1 = 5 ( add 1 to both sides )

2x = 6 ( divide both sides by 2 )

x = 3

Hence

AC = 6x + 7 = (6 × 3) + 7 = 18 + 7 = 25
