Let A and B be events with P(A) = 0.74 , P(B) = 0.59 , and P(B | A) = 0.50 . Find P(A and B).

P(A and B) = 0.37

Explanation:

Here, P(B) = 0.59

P(A) = 0.74

P(B I A) = 0.50

Now, if A and B are defined two INDEPENDENT EVENTS, then:


P(B/A)  = (P(A and B))/(P(A)) \\\implies 0.50  = (P(A and B))/(0.74) \\\implies P(A and B)  = (0.50) * (0.74)   = 0.37

So, P(A and B) = 0.37
