Answer:

The value of y is 3 cm.

Explanation:

Given,

Perimeter of triangle =
29\ cm

Solution,

Lets redraw the triangle with nomenclature ABC, given in the attachment.

∴P(ΔABC) = 29 cm (P stands for perimeter)

Length of AB =
y+9

Length of BC =
2y

Length of CA =
4y-1

Now, we all know that the perimeter of a triangle is sum of all the three sides of triangle.

P(ΔABC) = Length of AB+Length of BC+Length of CA

On substituting the values, we get;

(y+9)+2y+(4y-1)=29\\y+2y+4y+9-1=29\\7y+8=29\\7y=29-8\\7y=21\\y=(21)/(7) =3\ cm

Length of AB =
y+9=3+9=12\ cm

Length of BC =
2y=2*3=6\ cm

Length of CA =
4y-1=4*3-1=12-1=11\ cm

Hence the value of y is 3 cm.
