Jimmy is fencing in the dog run for his new puppy. He plans on making a rectangular and has 46 feet of fencing. If he wants the links to be 7 feet longer then the width, what will be the dimensions of the dog run?

The dimension of dog run are 15 feet length and 8 feet width.

Explanation:

Given:

Jimmy made rectangular fencing of 46 feet.

Hence we can say Perimeter of rectangle = 46 feet.

Let the width(w) be x.

Also Given he wants length to be 7 feet longer than the width.

Hence Length(l) =
x+7

Now we know that Perimeter of rectangle is twice the sum of length and width.

Framing in equation for we get;

Perimeter of rectangle =
2(l+w)


2(x+7+x) = 46\\2(2x+7)=46\\4x+14=46\\4x=46-14\\4x=32\\x=(32)/(4)=8\ ft

Hence width = 8 ft.

Length =
x+7=8+7=15\ ft

Hence the dimension of dog run are 15 feet length and 8 feet width.
