Bob and Fred, the Franklin brothers, are walking out to the woods at noon. “Bye Mom!” shouts Bob while running out the door. “We will be back soon Dad” Fred says to his Dad as he begins running to catch up with his brother. “Fred this time don’t let that spider-web scare you!” Bob says to Fred. “Don’t be mean about I’m just easily scared by things.” Fred says back in defense.
“Look, it’s a dog!” Bob says to Fred.” I think it’s hungry!’” Bob adds. Fred begins explaining that it might have rabies. Bob reaches for some spare salami he had in his bag anyway.
He feeds the dog and it lets Bob pet it the dog seems to enjoy it. Fred flips out a book from his bag and starts reading it. “He’s bleeding.” Fred looks up from his book and notices what Bob is talking about. “I still think it’s a bad idea to help this dog, it could hurt us.” Fred acknowledges. Bob shrugged it off saying that the dog is probably trying to find its way home but doesn’t remember. “Why would a lost and domesticated dog be wandering these weird, creepy, and scary woods?” Fred says. Bob responded by saying “You are scared of everything, like you could talk!” Fred ignores him and gets back to his book. Then Fred realizes the collar on the dog. “Let’s bring the dog home, I can see the address on the collar!” Fred says cheerfully. Bob notices he was happy about and explains that the dog is his friend and is mad that Fred is happy that we have to leave him. The brothers start arguing and then the dog barks and spooks Fred. He runs away to go home but went the wrong way and gets lost. Bob chases after Fred but eventually loses the tracks. Fred hopes Bob went home to alert his parents and waits for all of them to search for him.
But in the meantime, he decided to read his book until then. He gets really into his book until a branch falls down and he screams in freight. The dog hears this in the distance but Bob doesn’t and the dog perks it’s ears up. Bob yells for Fred but it’s no use because Fred can’t hear him. The dog suddenly runs off and Bob yells “Wait, come back!” In the distance Fred sees a shadow. “Wait, is that what I think it is?” It’s the dog! He runs into Fred’s arm and Fred realizes there was nothing to be scared of, Bob used the tracks the dog left behind to find Fred and the find their way home using Bob’s map.
