Answer:

Distance decay (im pretty sure) refers to how the spatial distance affects the popularity of a product. If an idea is popular in it's starting/beginning country, it will be less popular or well-known further from it's place of origin.

Example: Starbucks is very popular in the U.S. but in foreign countries it is not well-known
