I factor using the "guess and check" method. There are many ways to factor so its important to find one that works the best for you.
When I first think of factors of 8 I think of 4 and 2
(x+4)(x+2)
we can see that this multiplies to be 8 but it only adds to be 6 so it doesnt work
Next ill use 8 and 1
(x+8)(x+1)
8*1=8
8+1=9
so we see that this works
we arent done yet though
(x+8) and (x+1)
we have to get x by itself
x=-8 and x=-1
